| Operation In storage water heaters the water is heated at different times in the boiler, and not when the water is drawn, and then kept warm thanks to CFC free polyurethane foam insulation. The water is heated by an electric heating element controlled by a thermostat which reads the water temperature in the boiler of the water heater and permits the heating element to be powered until the required temperature is reached. In this way hot water is available to the user whenever required.
